Babymoon at the La Quinta Resort

I knew I wanted to try and escape on a babymoon before the girls arrive, as let's face it, life will never be the same after and quick trips anywhere will be a few and far between!

Someplace warm was a definite, as this mama-to-be needed some R&R in the sun! Given the current Zika outbreak, our options were quite limited. Everywhere in the Caribbean was pretty much off limits as was even southern Florida.

So next best location? The desert! I had always wanted to visit Palm Springs, CA so we started our search there. We found the gorgeous La Quinta Resort in nearby La Quinta, CA (only a few towns over from Palm Springs) and we immediately fell in love with the calming and beautiful landscape.

We flew into LA and rented a car for the 2.5 hour drive east. We decided to take the scenic route on the way there and the below picture was snapped after driving through the mountain range and back down to sea level. A major warning: that drive is not for the faint of heart! Talk about steep cliffs, one lane roads, a ridiculously fast speed limit, and minimal guard rails (can't say I didn't warn you!).

This is a shot I snapped of Big Horn and Palm Desert. A small patch of green in a whole lot of sand and dirt.

When we arrived at the resort, I literally could not stop snapping pictures!

We were able to book a poolside room, which was seriously amazing. The resort has a main pool and then pods of rooms surround smaller private pools. All we had to door was walk out our front door (our room was similar to the one pictured below) and the pool was only 5ft away! #heaven

And thank goodness for the pool because holy moly, is it hot there! I mean, hello, it's the desert, I expected the heat. But 110 degrees every day with no cloud coverage had me hiding in the shade and not getting that last summer tan I was hoping for.

The walk ways were lined with these beautiful lime trees.

I enjoyed an amazingggg prenatal massage at the Spa (entrance pictured above) -- never has 80 minutes gone by so quickly.

We did drive over to Palm Springs one afternoon and I couldn't not go seek out #thatpinkdoor! It's even prettier in person <3 We also stopped by The Parker Palm Springs and The Saguaro Palm Springs because, let's face it, I'm a sucker for a good photo opp!

While traveling 6 hours on a plane when 7 months pregnant was probably not my best idea, the trip was so worth it and one we definitely intend to take again once the girls are here!
