Faux Fur and a Shirtdress

If you follow me on Instagram, then you've seen me wear this dress before and even note that I couldn't wait to wear this dress with a faux fur vest.... so here it is!

I picked this dress up at Primark (for only $18!!) and is so perfect to wear by itself or layered under sweaters, vests, jackets, etc!

Kate Spade Surprise Sale

I think we can all agree that when our favorite designers have crazy sales, it's basically the best day ever (gotta stick to that budget right??)! Kate Spade launched a surprise sale yesterday (probably not so much a surprise anymore) that lasts through Thursday (Oct. 29th) evening and there are SO many great finds, that I felt like I needed to share! Now is a great time to snag that wallet, tote, or pair of earrings you've been eyeing!

Stripes & Flares

Happy Monday friends! I hope you all had a nice weekend. Mine was pretty low key, which was great. I think the most exciting thing that happened was that I finally got my eyebrows done (HA!) and got fully caught up on Homeland.

So, can we all agree that there's nothing better than a striped top in your closet? My collection is ever growing and I am not sorry about in the slightest! They are SO versatile and can be worn throughout the year. What's also great about stripes is that, while a classic, you can also incorporate them into any trends for that season. For example, in this post, I paired an everyday top with flared jeans and a fringe tote. By adding the blazer to this outfit, it helps keep the look not overwhelming 70's-ish because that's not really my style! I will say though, I love how these flares elongate my frame and make me feel so tall!

I'm also just realizing that I am wearing all J. Crew in these pictures... #jcrewaddict #sorrynotsorry.

J. Crew Factory striped top // American Eagle jeans (on sale!) // Target mules (no longer available) // Nordstrom Fringe tote // Karen Walker sunnies

BaubleBar necklace (old) // Target turtleneck // J. Crew Skirt (sold out online) // Zara metallic flats

Banana Republic turtleneck sweater // Zara skirt (old) // Gilt shoes

Little details from my parent's living room mantle.

J. Crew poncho (super old) // Target Belt // American Eagle jeans // Zara heels

I wore the above outfit to travel down to NYC last Friday! I drove from Boston to New Haven, CT and then took the commuter rail (Metro-North) into the city from there. I love traveling this way as it's much more affordable than taking an Amtrak train!

Oh how I love Grand Central Station! It was quite the hustle & bustle there on Friday evening when I arrived.

My sister and I met two of my friends for dinner at The Hillstone and then headed over to 230 Fifth for a nightcap (or two). The above photo is the view from their rooftop bar. Last time I was there was the night Kyle proposed and we all went out to celebrate!

On Saturday morning, we woke up and headed to my favorite brunch spot, Maison Kayser, so some yummy food and much needed coffee. There are a few locations throughout Manhattan and I cannot recommend it enough! We then decided to just walk up Fifth Ave and see where the day took us. We popped in the St. Patrick's Cathedral during our walk and I'm always stunned by how grande and beautiful it is. I haven't been back to NYC since the renovations on the outside were completed and boy oh boy is it as beautiful as ever! Fun Fact: Our grandparents were married in this church back in the early 50's (when that was still an option)!

We popped into the Polo store and I HAD to get another coffee at Ralph's. I've been dying to go there forever. It is seriously the cutest place.

My newest bag (smaller version here) that I snatched up during Rebecca Minkoff's Friends and Family Sale! I'm seriously so in love with this bag. The black on black is to die for and super chic. Love love love. I'm also seriously obsessed with these two new styles that were recently released - this saddle bag (which comes in a variety of colors and sizes) and this drawstring bag (comes in three colors!).

We kept walking up Fifth Avenue and decided a stroll through Central Park was a must (and is also one of my favorite things to do while in NYC).

We stumbled upon Belvedere Castle during our walk and I was SO excited, as this is where Kyle proposed almost two years ago (that story can be found here)! I haven't been back to this spot since and it's just so so beautiful (and looks totally different when it's not covered in snow!).

After walking through the park, we ended up at the Met and took some time to just stroll through the European Paints and Impressionism sections (my favorite!!).

On Saturday night, we went out for a late dinner and then out to a couple bars on the Lower East Side.  We had so much fun, but I'm pretty sure I'm still recovering (HA!).

Hope you all have a great day!

Bow Shirtdress & Cape

Outfit details:

Dress: CeCe via Lord & Taylor // Cape: Nordstrom (can't seem to find this one online, but similar option here) // Bag: Antrhopologie (old) // Flats: Zara // Brooches: Olivia Palermo collection for BaubleBar // Sunnies: Karen Walker

It's finally cape weather people!! I purchased this cape back in August during Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale and have been impatiently waiting to wear it since. I paired it with this black shirtdress (last seen here) and my new lace-up flats from Zara.

Can we also discuss how excited I am that brooches are back in style?! There is something so classic and elegant about them; to be truthful, I'm not sure why they ever went out of style! When I saw these featured in Olivia Palermo's recent collaboration with BaubleBar, I immediately hit Add to Cart (along with a few other things!)! The collection is great so be sure to check it out if you haven't already.

I hope you all have a great Monday!

Mad for Plaid

TGIF people!! So happy it's finally Friday. Short weeks always seem to go by the slowest for me. However, thankfully today is a short day for me as I'm headed down to NYC to visit my sister, who's been interning there during her Fall semester!

While I'm always a fan of plaid (you can wear it all year round people!), the best plaid merchandise is always released in the Fall and Winter. I can't seem to get enough of it, as I've been adding many plaid scarves, sweaters, dresses, jackets, and shirts to my shopping wish list. Below is a round up of some of my favorite plaid items that I've found around the web. I am especially lusting over this coat, this poncho, and this dress!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
